New vacancies increased 17 per cent in the year to May, and five per cent compared to April. The improvement was broad based with only Wales and East Anglia reporting small falls, while London increased for the ninth month running. By sector demand was highest in health, charity, education and support services, despite the tough financial environment. While the UK is still technically in recession, these figures point towards growing confidence among UK employers and a focus on growth. Salaries remain unchanged month on month.
