I am working with a forward thinking heating, gas and M&E contractor who are currently recruiting for an experienced SHEQ Manager to join the business out of their head office in Barnet to cover projects scattered throughout London and the South East. My client has a number of key contracts with housing associations, local authorities, private clients and main contractors providing commercial & domestic heating, electrical, gas and construction services. They are ideally looking for a competent H&S professional to join the team with a background in the construction sector having provided H&S services for the last 5 – 10 years for a number of construction organisations.

Duties:

  • Deliver health and safety strategies in the workplace according to legal guidelines, providing advice and support as necessary
  • Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety
  • Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and comply with current regulations & legislation
  • Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention
  • Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures
  • Prepare and report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics at management meetings
  • Coordinate a team of auditors to ensure the company is compliant to meet ISO’s requirements
  • Update and monitor company accreditations, such as CHAS, Construction Line etc
  • Investigate accidents, incident and enforcement in-line with (HSE) regulations to discover causes and advise on prevention
  • Identify new working methods, equipment or materials, which could reduce risks

Requirements:

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
  • CMIOSH status or working towards
  • Excellent understanding of management systems e.g. ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001 etc.
  • 5 – 10 years experience delivering H&S services in the construction, gas, heating or M&E sector
  • Full UK driving license
