Role: SHEQ Advisor / Manager

Sector: RC Frame Construction Contractor

Location: Cardiff - South Wales & South West

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 + car/allowance

I am working with a leading RC frame construction contractor who are based throughout the South Wales and the South West, due to their business growing substantially in recent months they are looking to bring on board a SHEQ Advisor / Manager to work out of their head office based close to Cardiff. The main focus of their projects are within the commercial, healthcare, education and residential sectors working with some of the country’s leading clients. The ideal candidate would have experience within this sector and at least 3 - 5 years experience working in a similar position where they were responsible for developing the company's health and safety initiative.

My client is looking for someone with the ability to develop quality assurance and health & safety procedures throughout the business as well as;
Carry out in-house training courses (work at height, abrasive wheels)
Produce method statements, risk assessments, COSHH assessments
Ensure adequate communication between sites and higher management
Report any substantial findings to the managing director and advisor on best practice methods to solves issues
To highlight areas where training/certification is required to meet the standards imposed by Legislation, Approved Codes of Practice, or H.S.E. guidance
To report on and file all RIDDOR to HSE. To report on any minors, near misses, environmental issues etc.

What you’ll need, to succeed;

  • Construction industry specific H&S experience
  • RC Frame experience
  • NEBOSH Construction or Degree in Occupational H&S
  • Membership to IOSH (Desirable)
  • Full UK driving license

The role requires excellent communication skills both verbal and written with strong negotiation skills to ensure that all sites develop their Health and Safety compliance culture in a consistent manner.
