Role -
Our client is currently on the look out for a Housing Solutions Assistant in order to give appropriate advice and information to personal and telephone callers to the Housing Solutions Service
To act as a point of contact for visitors and partner agencies
To provide accurate database information relating to the income and expenditure incurred by the service
To provide financial management support to the Service - e.g. processing invoices.
To provide accurate database information relating to the income and expenditure incurred by the service, , liaising with legal services and monitoring and reporting to management teams.
To ensure that any legal matters raised by the Legal Section or solicitors are given priority and are brought to the attention of the Business Unit Manager or Service Manager as appropriate as soon as possible
To co-ordinate information received from, and provide information to, contractors and managing agents, updating systems and files to reflect the information provided and producing reports as necessary
To monitor and record health and safety compliance across the temporary accommodation portfolio.
To provide administrative support to the Housing Solutions Service
To answer the service's telephone duty lines if designated officers are unavailable
To greet callers and give appropriate advice - face to face, by telephone or using writing communication as appropriate
To assist in the administration of correspondence, complaints, enquiries from MPs and Councillors, Ombudsman enquiries and statutory reviews; to deal with other correspondence answering general enquiries and to assist with the preparation of responses to Freedom of Information requests.
To support the No Recourse to Public Funds Service, making any alterations to the asylum support spreadsheet as required ensuring accurate recording of information.
To register housing reviews under s.202 / s.167 and to allocate cases and to ensure that they are brought to the attention of the allocated caseworker.
To carry out research into individual cases as directed by the Service Manager, particularly those that have been referred to the MARAC.
To have the ability to enter information about newly procured properties and general correspondence onto relevant systems such as I-World and EDMS
To arrange for the provision of interpreting and translation services, making appointments and maintaining systems to record and certify the services provided.
To issue, receive, and administer any cash, cheques, vouchers, receipts, stamps and travel warrants etc. to authorised members of staff and external sources
To co-ordinate and distribute stationary supplies for the service
Essential skill/knowledge-
An awareness of the legislation governing access to housing in particular Parts 6 and 7 of the Housing Act 1996 and of legislation applicable to applicants without recourse to public funds; in particular the National Assistance Act 1948 (s.21), the Children Act 1989 (s.17) NHS and Community Care Act 1990 (s.47).
An awareness of Health and Safety legislation in relation to property procurement and management
Good IT skills- ability to produce statistical reports
Team player.
