Facilities Manager

As Facilities Manager you will have day to day responsibility for several schools. The Facilities Manager will oversee the premises, M&E, cleaning and grounds maintenance services. As facilities manager you will be responsible for managing other key departments in the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the school's various facilities departments including cleaning and grounds maintenance services
  • Manage M&E contractors
  • Manage planned and reactive maintenance
  • The Facilities Manager will manage staff in other departments
  • Managing external contractors
  • Managing budgets
  • Liaising with other school staff to prevent and resolve problems
  • Attending school meetings

Desired Experience

  • Experience of managing soft and hard facilities management
  • Experience of the facilities management industry
  • Writing of risk assessments
  • Experience using CAFM systems
  • Experience managing external contractors
  • The Facilities Manager needs to have a good technical understanding
  • Experience managing hard services
  • Organisational ability
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good leadership skills and experience of working in a team
  • The Facilities Manager will need experience working to deadlines and balancing different priorities


  • Must have either a IOSH or NEBOSH qualification
  • Qualified to GSCE or equivalent
  • FM qualification is desirable
  • A member of a facilities management association
