My client is looking for a data centre technician to join their team at their site located in the heart of Birmingham. The Data Centre Technician will manage local Change Management and Quality Control at the client data centre (s). The role holder will implement a wide range of standardised programs for training, reporting, document management, maintenance processes and procedures, and reporting of Building Management System (BMS), Power Generation and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS). The role holder will be the site representative for development and management of operations processes and procedures and their standardisation with other Data Centre Technician roles across the contract. The Data Centre Technician will ideally have a strong mechanical and electrical associated with critical maintenance operations within a data centre environment.

Key Role Requirements

Health & Safety: Responsible for running Health & Safety meetings for the local site. Responsible for standardising the local Health & Safety program to align with the corporate program to ensure full coverage and compliance.

Accountable for the on-going day to day operations of the data centre(s) ensuring all critical environments, services and systems are 100% available 24/7, 365 days / year

Controls and provides site security access and all installation operations through change control within the data centre critical environments

Quality Assurance: Assist in the creation and revision of new processes and procedures in the areas of service delivery, operational readiness, safety, compliance and administration. These processes and procedures will be reviewed and enhanced on a regular basis either as a result of feedback from the field or as part of a scheduled periodic review.

Quality Control: Manage technical review and approval of critical procedures, monitor program compliance, conduct audits and evaluate program effectiveness.

Change Management: Responsible to run a standardised formal change control process for the local data centre. Ensure proper preparation, work procedures and documentation, notifications; follow-through activities and exception handling are in place for maintenance activities.

Reporting: Responsible for running weekly and monthly meetings and planning sessions with the local site, and communicating site KPI analysis to a monthly executive review.
