Build Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Clerk of Works. The role is a permanent position, paying between £45,000 - £47,000.

The Clerk of Works will play a key role in an exciting major project being undertaken by the client. The Clerk of Works will be a client side representative working in the best interests of the client, ensuring the achievement of standards and performance of fabric, infrastructure and systems related works. You will be a key interface between departments.

Main Duties & Responsibilities for the Clerk of Works:

  • Ensure contractors achieve the required standards of quality and workmanship
  • Ensure projects and works are delivered to the agreed drawings, specification and schedule, and comply with relevant standards, guidance and legislation
  • Ensure that the client secures quality work and value for money
  • Help coordinate site logistics and access, often with multiple contractors and concurrent projects, and proactively liaise with stakeholders
  • Visit site to carry out visual inspections prior to work commencing, at key stages throughout construction and at practical completion

Experience:

  • Several years’ experience at craft or technician level in Mechanical or Electrical Building Services, construction or civil engineering
  • Proven experience in a supervisory capacity on construction sites, as a Site Manager or Clerk of Works (or variation in job title)
  • Proven experience of refurbishment and repair works, quality control and site testing methods
  • Be a registered corporate Member of the Institute of Clerks of Works (Part II) or Educated to at least HNC/HND level in a core profession; Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Building
  • Have completed a Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) course
  • Be a registered corporate Member of the Institute of Clerks of Works (Part II) or Educated to at least HNC/HND level in a core profession; Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Building
