Why Now is The Best Time To Job Search

Recruitment’s an all-year-round sector, but there’s some seasonal highs and lows when it comes to success. Thankfully for current jobseekers, right now is a brilliant time to begin the hunt.

It’s relatively common knowledge that the start of the year is a great time for jobseekers, because new roles present themselves and hiring managers are looking to utilise their new hiring budgets. But you can't always predict when you'll need to be job hunting, so here are a handful of reasons why now, Autumn, is a great time to start your new career:

Holidays are Over

That might sound depressing, but it’s great for those looking for their new role.

Applications over the Summer months can be tricky to succeed in, because the hiring managers & decision makers are often jetting off abroad to making use of their annual leave.

But as the colder months creep in, everybody returns to work and projects begin to start.

Get Settled by Christmas

Easing yourself into a new job can be a challenge, and it could be a month or two before you’re fully comfortable with your colleagues and responsibilities.

If you begin the hunt around now, then you’ll be part of the furniture by the Christmas months, and start the New Year as a fully-fledged member of your team.

There’s an argument to be made for starting your role around January/February – new year, new you – but searching for a role over the holiday season can prove challenging as businesses wind down for Christmas.

Variety of Graduate Jobs, But…

As one academic year comes to an end and another begins, companies put out their feelers for graduate and junior positions to take on school- and university-leavers.

On one hand, this is a great thing; the job market is flush with new opportunities. Huge companies will be looking to take on relatively inexperienced jobseekers so they can train them to become a core part of their teams.

However, this also means a huge amount of competition. Thousands of students graduate from UK universities every year, and almost all of them will be looking to move into their first full-time role. If this describes your situation, get ahead of the curve and work out your options slightly before the end of Summer.
